Conscious Computing: The Remarkable Tablet

  • 1 min read

I truly believe that writing teaches how to think. That’s why I’m always looking ways to write better. Sometimes that’s through strategy. Other times it’s through technology. This week I review one such technology: the reMarkable 2 tablet.

In this video, I dive deep into how the reMarkable 2 fits into the concept of "conscious computing" - the framework I've developed to evaluate technology based on its ability to help us lead better lives. I'll be examining this popular e-ink tablet through five key criteria: Input, Throughput, Stayput, Compute, and Output.

Some questions I explore:

  • Could this be the bridge between our digital and analog worlds?
  • How does it compare to traditional pen and paper for developing our thinking skills?
  • Does it help or hinder our ability to focus and generate ideas?

I'll share my personal experience using the reMarkable 2 for various writing tasks, from journaling to drafting articles. I'll also discuss some limitations I encountered and my wishlist for future updates. Plus, I'll touch on some broader reflections about the role of technology in our lives, especially in this age of AI.

Whether you're a tech enthusiast, a dedicated writer, or simply someone interested in mindful productivity, this video offers insights that might change the way you think about your digital tools.
